If you&#039;re spending money on PPC (pay-per-click) the cost of each visitor would depend on which keyword phrase or term brings the visitors to your site.  For example, if  I consistently outbid for the keyword &quot;divorce attorney in Miami&quot; at $1.00 per visitor that clicks on that ppc add, and the add brings me about 300 visitors who clicked on the add, then it costs me a total of $300 since you only pay $1 each. 

However, to find out how much income each visitor is bringing you, I think software would only be the beginning depending on whether your site seeks to convert visitors into clients right on the site.  Continuing using my example regarding divorce, if I seek to convert visitors into clients right on the website through a simplified divorce for $150 by filling out an intake form, I would need two such clients converting on the site to break even.  The site statistics would come from the number of intake forms being filled (with accompanying payment, of course).

All of my traffic to my website has been free so far because that&#039;s how I chose to approach the learning curve and it has worked so far for me.  I don&#039;t try to convert right on the site but use the site to attract calls to me.  What I do, instead, is to keep track of how people reach out to me right on the call, whether from visiting my site or being personally referred by a colleague, former client, etc. Then I track whether they signed the retainer and for how much.  For that, I use a simple Excel spreadsheet.

A real-life experience for me recently involved a client who hired me by telephone after visiting my website, which resulted in an uncontested divorce at $500.  But that client referred someone else for whom I did work on two related issues for a fee of $4,750.
